The Value of Marriage and Family Therapy

Within the process of therapy a therapeutic relationship can develop between you and your therapist that can be a catalyst for healing other relationships in your life. Marriage and Family Therapy can help you begin to make the changes that you wish to see in your own family and couple relationships. Therapy can also help you find more satisfying ways to cope and lead to better communication among your family members.

Why should you come to a Marriage and Family Therapist rather than a psychologist or social worker? Marriage and Family therapists come from a number of different disciplines such as social work, psychology and pastoral care. Individuals, couples and families can be perceived in very different ways by these various professionals. Marriage and Family Therapists have pursued specialized clinical training in Marriage and Family Therapy and tend to focus on both interpersonal relationships like social workers, and internal dynamics like psychologists. Some Marriage and Family Therapists have also pursued education and training in the role of spirituality in relationships, and this is the case at Eureka Family Counselling.
